Gunfleet Springs Into Action
Gunfleet Sailing Club members sprung into life last weekend, 14 & 15 March, to get the place all ready for the start of the sailing season which is in just two weeks time. There were plenty of jobs to be undertaken, and plenty of enthusiastic members raring to toll up their sleeves and get stuck in. The Clubhouse got its annual creosote, the rendering on the outside of the changing rooms had a refreshing coat of masonry paint, whilst inside it was out with the paintbrushes and cleaning materials. The Club’s sun deck received a coat of wood preservative, the rubbish, accumulated over the last twelve months, was disposed of, fence straining wire replaced with stainless steel, and hinges and locks were oiled. Free drinks and hot lunches were served on both days and, throughout the weekend, camaraderie shone through amongst the members.
Gunfleet has certainly come out of hibernation and members are counting down the days to the first race, for the March Hare Trophy on Sunday 29 March, preceded by the traditional Fitting Out Supper the evening before.
