Cliff Clearance Goes With A Swing
Gunfleet Sailing Club sprung to life last Saturday 7 February 2026 when more than 20 members descended onto the cliffs to carry out the annual cutting back of the tamarisk. Armed with a wide variety of gardening tools the team worked hard to clear the cliff of overgrowth, and pile it up ready for shredding. The weather was kind, after previous days of torrential rain, and the sun put in an occasional appearance; however the camaraderie shone through throughout the day. Hot drinks were handed out at regular intervals, which kept the troops going, and as they headed towards lunchtime it was obvious that the work would just be completed at this point. At 1:00 p.m. everyone headed to a warm Clubhouse for baked beans on toast, with grated cheese, and much eager talk of the sailing season ahead.
