About Gunfleet Sailing Club

The Gunfleet Sailing Club is situated at Holland on Sea, on the Essex coast, next door to the well known holiday resort of Clacton.

It is a small and very friendly Club that caters for all types of sailing - whether it be racing, cruising or just pottering. All classes of dinghy are welcomed and at present the following fleets are based at Gunfleet:
Laser, Topper, Topaz, RS600, Solution, and Sea Ranger.
Other classes at the Club include Comet, B14, Tera, Contender, Vortex, Comet Zero, Hobie 405, and Xenon.

The Club boasts a Clubhouse with licensed bar and galley, along with changing rooms, showers and toilets. There is also a sail locker, and to aid launching and recovery an electric winch has been installed.

The Club has a full programme of sailing and social events, all designed for the whole family. There is an active Cadet and Otter section and one of the strengths of the Club is the great way young and old mix so well together.

The racing is light hearted and the cruises provide an opportunity to sail further afield in company. There is even a Moonlight Cruise when you can sail under the stars. The Club has a Rescue Boat that is always present when racing or cruising takes place.

The highlight of 2008 will be the Laser Open on Saturday 28 June, the Xenon/Omega Open on Saturday 12 July, and The Club's Regatta Weekend on 26 & 27 July. All money raised at the Regatta is donated to the Clacton Lifeboat Station. If you own a Laser, Xenon or Omega then do join us for our Opens, and whatever boat you sail do come to our Regatta Weekend. The Saturday is a packed fun day for the Cadets and Otters, on and off the water, followed by a barbecue whilst on the Sunday there is an all-in race for the RNLI Trophy in the morning and class racing in the afternoon, culminating in the prizegiving.
